Who we are
This policy explains how Belgium Motors, a car dealership based in Waterloo, processes the personal data collected through this website, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

Data we process
This website never asks you to create an account and does not collect any sensitive data.
Your requests
When you write to us through the website's contact form, by email or by phone, we process the information you give us: last name, first name, email address, phone number, what your request is about, the vehicle concerned and the content of your message.
Traffic measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to know which pages are viewed, where visitors come from and which type of device they use. These statistics are aggregated and produced without cookies: no visitor is individually identified or tracked across websites.
Technical logs
Like any host, Vercel automatically records some technical data on each visit: IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type.

Purposes and legal bases
Answering your requests for information, test drives, trade-ins or quotes: pre-contractual steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or, for a simple question, our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Measuring website traffic to improve it: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Keeping the website secure and running properly: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your data is never used for profiling or automated decision-making, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

Retention periods
Requests that do not lead anywhere: up to 3 years after the last contact.
Traffic statistics: kept in aggregated form, they cannot identify you.
Technical logs: kept by the host for a few days at most.

Recipients and processors
Your data is reserved for the Belgium Motors team and is never sold or transferred. We use the following providers, which process it solely on our behalf:

Transfers outside the European Union
As Vercel is based in the United States, some data may be transferred there. These transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards: standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission and/or certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The website database is hosted by Supabase in Zurich, Switzerland, a country recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of protection. As Supabase Inc. is a US company, any access from the United States is covered by the same safeguards. The Google Maps map on the Contact page is provided by Google, which may process your IP address in the United States; Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Security
This website is served over HTTPS only and access to data is restricted to authorised Belgium Motors staff. Our providers are contractually bound to protect the data they process for us.

Your rights
You can ask at any time to access your data, have it rectified or erased, restrict or object to its processing, or receive a copy in a structured format (portability).
To exercise these rights, email us at info@belgiummotors.com. We will reply within one month, which may be extended by two months for complex requests, and may ask you to prove your identity if there is reasonable doubt.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Bruxelles — www.autoriteprotectiondonnees.be.
